2011 was a pretty good year for movies, though by the looks of it 2012 could be even better especially if you look forward to big franchise movies (as I do). So I thought I’d do a quick list of the movies I’m most looking forward to in 2012 (these are not in any particular order) and I'm sure will come with some epic movie marketing to hype them. Here we go...
Skyfall (007) – I’m a huge fan of Daniel Craig in the role of James Bond and of Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, so I’ve got big hopes of Skyfall. I’m slightly disappointed that this isn’t a direct sequel (as had been initially reported) that continues the story it looked like both previous instalment were setting up, but I’m sure a standalone story will work well with Daniel Craig now officially the James Bond we know.
The Dark Knight Rises – easily my most anticipated film of the year, I’m still concerned this can’t quite live up to the high levels set by The Dark Knight but in Chris Nolan we trust.
The Avengers – four years and five films of set-up, this truly could be the biggest super-hero movie of all time. I just hope they’ve nailed the story and make all the build-up worth it! Initial trailers suggest this is going to be an epic ride.
The Amazing Spider-Man – Bit of an odd one to be on my list as it’s not a film I’m overly excited for, as I think it’s far too early for a re-boot and to re-tell the origin story (I think they should have just continued the story left from 3 but with new actors/directors similar to the original Batman films). However it’s on the list because I’m intrigued to see how they do the story and if they improve on the Raimi trilogy.
Prometheus – this wasn’t on the list until the teaser trailer was released a couple of weeks ago, but that blew my mind and therefore I can’t wait to see the finished film.
Brave – really looking forward to an original story from Pixar again (it’s been far too long and I’ve still get sour taste left from Cars 2) so I’ve got big hopes for this!
They're other movies I'm very keen to see (Snow White and the Huntsman, The Hobbit, Chronicles, Red Tails, and a lot more) but above are the one's I definitely want to see, what about you?
