Viral Marketing For Prometheus Begins With Guy Pearce Keynote

In addition to some awesome teaser posters and trailers, the viral marketing for Ridley Scott’s new film Prometheus has arrived.

Its unclear whether this is purely a viral marketing piece, or whether it’s a clip that will feature in the upcoming film in some way. If it’s purely a marketing tool, it’s a very expensive and slick piece of viral marketing with Guy Pearce delivering an excellent performance, hopefully he’ll feature heavily in the final film.

The link the viral clip pushes at the end www.weylandindustries.com currently only links to a site that at moment only shows this video. But I bet this site will be a rich source of viral marketing on the lead up to the movies release.

New Avengers Movie Poster Arranges Stars By Box Office Performance

The official Facebook page for Marvel's upcoming The Avengers has just released the latest movie poster for the film.

The Avengers Movie Poster
It looks like the character placement is relative to their previous movies box office success, with Robert Downey Jr and Chris Hemsworth clearly being the big names the studio want to push the movie in association with (as they get the frontline treatment). But the Hulk and poor Chris Evans get relegated to almost the background?! Captain America didn't perform that much lower than Thor did it?

Even so it's an epic poster and a lot less cartoonish compared to the previous marketing we've seen for the movie so far. All in I like, what do you think?

John Carter Fan-Made Trailer Markets Movie Better Than Disney

Here’s a new “fan-made” trailer for the new Disney movie John Carter.

It’s got to be a bit embarrassing to the Disney marketing department when a fan made trailer markets the movie better than they have in the last 12 months.

Judge for yourself, but the below trailer is the first piece of marketing material I’ve seen that gets me excited for the movie and it’s not even an official release…

Disney find this guy.

Buy the rights to this cut of the trailer.

Start using it to advertise the movie.

Top Gun 3D Re-Release

It looks like Top Gun is to re-released in 3D.

I'm not sure if this has been officially announced but Jerry Bruckheimer has tweeted that he recently watched the 1986 classic with the films star and director in the 3D format...

“Just watched Top Gun for the first time since it was released in 86. Saw it with Tom and Tony in 3D, it was awesome.”

And screen grab with photo evidence for proof!

I'm pretty sure a 3D re-release of Top Gun has not been officially announced and I'm surprised that if a conversion was in progress details haven't leaked sooner than this. But if a 3D re-release announcement wasn't imminent, then why have the film converted in the first place? I imagine those air combat scenes would look spectacular in 3D and I'd love to see the film on the big screen!

I'm also staggered that Jerry Bruckheimer hasn't watched Top Gun in 26 years...

What do you think?

Battleship Looks Like Transformers 4

So Battleship is basically using the same SFX crew that did all the CGI on Transformers: Dark of the Moon right? New TV spot released during the Superbowl would suggest yes...

If you added a shot of Optimus Prime, I'd swear this was some movie marketing for Transformers 4. What do you think?

First Official Skyfall Image of Daniel Craig

The first official image of Daniel Craig as James Bond in Skyfall has been released. You can see a small preview below or head over to 007.com for the full version.

It doesn't really give too much away, though it does set a dark and slick tone for the film. Thoughts?
